What is the Global Digital Compact and why does it matter?

The Global Digital Compact was one of the major documents adopted at the Summit of the Future, a high-level effort to reinvigorate global cooperation that took place during the opening days of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly last week.

But what does it say, and how easy will it be to implement?

At a Devex event on the sidelines of UNGA, Renata Dwan, a special adviser to the U.N. secretary-general’s envoy on technology, described the compact as “the first comprehensive global agreement for digital cooperation.”
