Around 9 a.m. on the final day of pandemic treaty negotiations in April, Precious Matsoso requested a break. Delegates had been negotiating all night, and the co-chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body figured it was time to pause.

But the room wasn’t having it.

After three years of talks, negotiators were determined to push through the finish line.
