The World Bank and Congo are partnering on two new ventures designed to shore up the country’s health programs. “As part of its interventions in Congo, the World Bank is preparing a new operation with a much more structured approach to develop health facilities and help set up a National Health Development Plan,” stressed Marie Francoise Marie Nelly, the agency’s director of operations. “We are planning to develop a much more significant strategy, which will be based on the National Poverty Reduction Paper,” she added. The new projects come in addition to the existing governance, AIDS control and basic education programs funded by the global lender.
