The World Bank plans to extend USD78 million in aid to Bhutan over the next four years.
The funding will be drawn from the bank’s International Development Association and International Finance Corp. It forms part of the new World Bank country strategy for the Asian country, which the bank said supports a “development vision characterized by Bhutan’s unique philosophy of ‘Gross National Happiness.’”
On Nov. 30, the World Bank’s executive board discussed the 2011-2014 strategy, which focuses on economic growth, job generation and skills development.
