Zimbabwe is seeking approximately USD135 million from the African Development Bank and Development Bank of Southern African to help address its growing electricity crisis, Zimbabwe Independent reports. AfDB reportedly pledged to provide USD51 million while the DBSA promised USD81 million. Zimbabwe said it needs a total of USD1 billion dollars to address the problems of its main electricity provider and an additional USD3 billion to build new power stations.
