IAVI is a nonprofit scientific research organization with offices and labs in Africa, India, Europe, and the U.S. They are scientists, researchers, advocates, activists, administrators, and innovators. They are experts in vaccine and antibody discovery, development, and clinical research.
IAVI was founded in 1996 with a mission to develop a safe, affordable, globally accessible HIV vaccine. They are still dedicated to fulfilling our original mission. While they continue to work toward an HIV vaccine, they are also applying their capabilities, expertise, and partnerships toward:
HIV, tuberculosis, and emerging infectious diseases are all marked by their persistence — even with some available vaccines and treatments — and exact a heavy personal toll, including financially. People living in poverty experience a disproportionate burden of that toll.
