About

African Enterprise (AE) is an indigenous, interdenominational, multicultural, Christian, mission ministry committed to evangelizing the cities of Africa through word and deed in partnership with the church.

AE's holistic approach to missions involves four key ministry areas;

  • Evangelism
  • Aid & Development
  • Reconciliation & Justice
  • Leadership Development

Following Jesus' last command (Matthew 28:19) our teams work with the local churches in Africa to empower them to meet the spiritual, social, economic, physical and emotional needs of their local communities.

African Enterprise was founded in 1961 by a South African, Michael Cassidy, with the express mission: "To evangelize the cities of Africa, through word and deed, in partnership with the Church."

Our scope is all of urban Africa. AE leaders on the continent are African nationals that work with local church and parachurch leaders to mobilize congregations in outreach to African cities. Sixteen or more strategic cities are being reached this way each year. AE's ultimate vision is to see an Africa of peace and justice through the spiritual renewal and transformed lives of thousands of people.

There are currently ten African teams in Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe as well as Pan African teams for Mission and Reconciliation. These offices are in partnership with support Boards around the world in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States. The whole organisation is governed by an International Partnership Board. The AE partnership holds to the Lausanne Covenant as our statement of faith.

What We Do

>> Evangelism

African Enterprise's main aim and passion is to win people in Africa's major cities to faith in Jesus Christ. We do this through strategically trying to reach many strata of society in the manner best suited. Our methods include stratified evangelism in a city-wide mission context, youth evangelism through the Foxfire Youth Team, child evangelism, our ministry to the disabled through DisAbility Connexion and in using the media, especially radio which is still one of Africa's best-loved mediums.

>> Reconciliation

African Enterprise has developed several effective workshops and seminars which minister to those harbouring deep wounds from conflicts and wars. Sufferers learn to share their grievous losses, to forgive those who have hurt them and to find healing and new life in Christ. Often, former enemies embrace. New trust is formed. And the peace from these restored relationships spreads throughout cities and nations. Not only that, but many who've found healing receive training on how to train others, creating a dynamic, exponential multiplication of healing and hope.

>> Aid and development

An African proverb states that "Empty bellies have no ears." When seeking to share the Gospel with hurting and hungry people across Africa, AE has often found that those who are suffering, whether from hunger, disease, bitterness or hopelessness, are not able to receive Christ's good news until some of their felt needs are met first. Aid and devWhen they've finally eaten a few good meals, have received some medical attention or have had their inner wounds healed, they can arrive at a place where they are ready to hear and accept God's love for them. Not only that, but assisting suffering people is just one more way AE can demonstrate Jesus' love for them.

For these reasons, AE has engaged in dozens of programs around Africa which aim to present the Gospel through efforts that alleviate suffering and hopelessness.
