About

The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is a not-for-profit networking and service alliance of Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs [FE(L)TPs] and other applied epidemiology training programs in Africa. Established in 2005, AFENET is dedicated to improving the health outcomes of communities through collaboration with ministries of health, as well as national, regional, and international partners. The organization strives to build strong, effective, and sustainable programs and capacity to enhance public health systems across the African continent and beyond, ensuring alignment with the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) strategy and the International Health Regulations (IHR).

Over the years, AFENET has developed an expanding partnership base with various international and regional multilateral agencies, philanthropies, government bodies, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). As of now, its membership includes 40 FE(L)TPs spread across Africa. AFENET remains committed to broadening its reach within Africa and beyond in support of advancing global health security.
