Agitos Foundation
About

Since 2012 the Agitos Foundation has become the leading global organization for developing Parasport as a tool for changing lives and contributing to an inclusive society for all.

They are the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and take their name from the Paralympic Symbol (the Agitos) which is derived from the Latin verb “to move”.

They work on a global basis to attract funding – philanthropic donations and grants – as well as a wide range of non-financial strategic support. Their key focus is to distribute these resources and expertise to the parts of the world where they are most needed.

They do this by designing and delivering a number of core programmes that address common worldwide issues. This includes making grants available to the IPC membership.

The considerable demands from within the Paralympic Movement mean that at this stage they are unfortunately not able to provide grants to organizations or individuals from the wider network that supports people with impairment.

They operate a rigorous monitoring and evaluation process for all their grantmaking and programme delivery.

As a foundation, they also want to be an even more effective advocate of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The power of sport is the specific tool that they have for this.

They are convinced that Para athletes make a huge difference in the perceptions of ability.

Parasport is all too often expensive, unavailable or not well-promoted, especially in developing nations.
