Akhaya Women is a local initiative, led by and for women. Akhaya Women provides the tools and support mechanisms necessary for women in Myanmar to challenge gender stereotypes, to bring gender equality into their family homes and communities, and to campaign for a safer and more equal environment for women to live in.
Akhaya Women is based on a model of strengthening women’s self-confidence in the context of small women’s support groups, to enable women to enjoy their rights to engage in the broader social environment with self-awareness, and new knowledge. For Akhaya Women, the starting point is empowerment through individual and experiential learning in small group settings.

Vision
Myanmar is a place where women and girls are valued and treated as equals; where women and girls have access to education on sexuality, reproductive health, and gender roles; where women feel empowered in their bodies and in themselves; where children are raised in a gender balanced environment; and where male and female family members support each other to reach their goals.
Mission
AkhayaWomen is bringing together the women of Myanmar, one by one, and providing the tools and support mechanisms necessary for women to challenge gender stereotypes, to bring gender equality into family homes and communities, and to campaign for a safer and more equal environment for women to live in.
