American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is a group of physicians providing health care for women. With 55,000 members, ACOG strongly advocates for quality care for women.

 

The mission of ARCOG is to facilitate and promote professionalism, affirm dedication to the educational process for women's health, and to foster the development of standards for residency coordinators in conjunction with CREOG.

ACOG is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care and the professional and socioeconomic interests of its members through continuing medical education, practice, research, and advocacy.

ACOG 2012 Legislative Priorities

Ensure Medicare Physician Payments Provide Access to High Quality Ob-Gyn Care and Protect Women's Health in Medicaid

  • Supports SGR repeal.
  • Will develop expertise to guide Congress and policy makers on payment reform options that would best serve the needs of our patients.
  • Will protect ob-gyn ultrasound from any reimbursement or coverage cuts.
  • Opposes changes to the Medicaid program that jeopardize access to care for women in need.
  • Supports immediate suspension of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) required implementation of ICD-10, and re-evaluation of the penalty program timelines associated with the Medicare health IT programs underway.
