Appalachian Voices is an award-winning, environmental non-profit committed to protecting the land, air and water of the central and southern Appalachian region, focusing on reducing coal’s impact on the region and advancing the organization's vision for a cleaner energy future.

Founded in 1997, Appalachian Voices is headquartered in Boone, N.C. with offices in Raleigh, N.C., Charlottesville and Wise County, Va., and Knoxville, Tenn. Since the organization believes working in concert with others produces maximum results, Applachian Voices is a proud member of the Alliance for Appalachia, Blueprint North Carolina, Clean Water Network, North Carolina Conservation Network and the Wise Energy for Virginia Coalition.
