BPTP Jakarta was previously named the Research and Assessment of Agricultural Technology (IP2TP) Installation, a provincial installation of the West Java Technology Assessment Study Center in Lembang Bandung. IP2TP was formed in April 1995 based on the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No.798 / KPTS / OT.210 / 12/94. In line with the development of the technological situation and needs in June 2001 through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 350 / KPTS / Ot.210 / 6/2001 IP2TP, IP2TP has been upgraded to become the Institute for Agricultural Technology Studies (BPTP) Jakarta
