About

The Baobá Fund for Racial Equity is the first and only fund dedicated exclusively to the promotion of racial equity for the black population in Brazil. Created in 2011, the Baobá Fund is a non-profit organization that aims to mobilize people and resources, in Brazil and abroad, to support pro-racial equity projects and actions for the black population.

To achieve its mission, the Baobá Fund works to strengthen and invest, primarily through public notices, in organizations and black leaders committed to tackling racism, promoting racial equity and social justice. A significant part of the donations made by the Baobá Fund is concentrated in the northeastern region of the country. For the organization, this region is strategic for the promotion of racial equity, due to its demographic composition, its history of resilience and innovation in this field. The Baobá Fund implements a philanthropic agenda based on ethical values, effective management, transparency, and social justice. Its performance can be presented in three major dimensions: social articulation, resource mobilization, and programmatic investment.
