Brazilian Company of Research and Industrial Innovation (Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa e Inovacao Industrial, EMBRAPII - Brazil)
EMBRAPII (Brazilian Company of Research and Industrial Innovation) is a Social Organization by the Federal Public Power, which, since 2013, supports technological research institutions fostering the Brazilian industry innovation.
The signing of the Management Agreement with the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications – MCTIC took place on December, 2nd, 2013, with the Ministry of Education – MEC as an intervening institution. The two federal bodies also equally share the responsibility for their funding.
The hiring of EMBRAPII is part of the recognition of opportunities to exploit the synergies between technological research institutions and industrial companies, in favor of strengthening the Brazilian innovation capacity. Its mission is to support technological research institutions, in selected areas of competence, to carry out projects for the development of technological research for innovation, in cooperation with companies in the industrial sector.
EMBRAPII operates through cooperation with scientific and technological research institutions, public or private, focusing on business demands and targeting risk sharing in the pre-competitive phase of innovation. By sharing project risks with companies, it aims to stimulate the industrial sector to innovate more and with greater technological intensity, in order to boost the competitive strength of companies both in the domestic and in the international markets.
