Brazilian Forum on Public Safety (Forum Brasileiro de Seguranca Publica)

The Brazilian Forum on Public Safety is a non-governmental, non-partisan and not-for-profit organization set up in March 2006 to provide a national reference as well as a platform for technical cooperation in the fields of law enforcement and public security management in Brazil. The Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to act as a permanent and innovative space for debate, articulation and technical cooperation for public security in Brazil. The FBSP structures its activities around strategic thinking that values information as an axis of transformation and social change. In practice, this translates into a work program based on the circulation of data and knowledge about the reality of the area, and also on the approximation and construction of dialogue bridges between different segments that deal daily with the theme. This is how the action of the FBSP has allowed existing data to be converted into input for political action. More than the production and dissemination of information, it seeks to consolidate a narrative that is assumed to be credible and capable of changing the daily life of the population, escaping the perverse logic that feeds a growing insecurity and reproduces patterns and political cultures that accept violence as language.
