CCT was established in 2007 when Tara Winkler and Pon Jedtha, with the support of the Cambodian Ministry of Social Affairs, Veteran and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY), rescued fourteen children from a corrupt and abusive orphanage.

A new orphanage was established in order to provide the fourteen children with a safe home.

Since then, CCT has undertaken a number of organisational changes, including the closure of the orphanage and transforming to a community development organisation with a Holistic Family-Based Care Model.

In December 2014, CCT commenced stage one of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) pilot program, delivering an ‘Introduction to Programming & Robotics’ module to public high school students in Battambang, Cambodia. In August 2016, Stage two of the pilot program was completed, which delivered Basic ICT Literacy and technical ICT skills to over 1,600 public high school students, as well as teacher training to ICT teachers and public school educators in Battambang.

In April 2015, CCT became an implementing partner of the 3PC Alliance, a partnership program that seeks to strengthen national child protection systems, overseen by Friends-International and funded by UNICEF. The 3PC alliance, made up of nine NGOs across Cambodia, sets specific and tangible targets to improve the quality of services that organisations and government provide to vulnerable youth in Cambodia.

In 2016, CCT became an implementing partner of the Family Care First Cambodia (FCFC) initiative, funded by USAID and overseen by Save the Children Cambodia. FCFC is focused on four key objectives; government systems strengthening; direct response through developing a strong social welfare workforce; prevention of child-family separation; and, the transformation of the dominant residential care model.

At CCT:

• They are a local NGO, registered in Cambodia and proud that over 90% of their team are Cambodian staff.
• They strive towards best practice in all they do – including adhering ethical marketing and fundraising practices. They aim to respect their beneficiaries’ rights to dignity and privacy and do not resort to ‘voluntourism’ in order to raise funds.
• They are apolitical and secular, serving all individuals equally, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or political affiliation

Their vision is to see a Cambodia free from poverty, where all children grow up in families.

At CCT they work to empower vulnerable children to escape the cycle of poverty through family preservation, education, and deinstitutionalisation.
