About

The Center for Analysis and Dissemination of the Paraguayan Economy (CADEP) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to research and training in economic development. CADEP's main research areas are fiscal studies, competitiveness, trade policy and issues related to employment.

CADEP was established at the beginning of Paraguay's transition to democracy, after one of the longest dictatorships in Latin America. It was set up to help understand the national economy and the role of the State, as well as to produce knowledge with a view to forming a basis for the development of public policies that would achieve sustainable growth and improve the well-being of the Paraguayan population.

Through its research, education and training activities and its publications, CADEP has become an important resource for government and the private sector, as well as for universities and civil society organizations. It has also formed strong international and regional networks with academic organizations, foundations and donor agencies.

As a result of the activities of CADEP and its notoriety in shaping public opinion, several of its researchers have been invited by the Paraguayan government to participate in decision-making regarding public policies, without losing their independence.
