CIDT is a unique self-funded University centre offering a blend of consultancy, training and project management services.
The Centre for International Development and Training is a self-financing, not-for-profit centre within the University of Wolverhampton.
CIDT staff share a deep commitment to working with others towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals, for the elimination of poverty. Their aim is to influence change and challenge the causes of poverty. Their purpose is to enhance the livelihoods of vulnerable people. Working in partnership they develop knowledge, attitudes and skills for people-centred development.
They provide services in training, facilitation, professional development, project management, evaluation and technical assistance across four main practice areas: Climate, Forests and Green Growth; Education; Managing for Development Results and Citizenship.

Management for Development Results
CIDT has key competence in design, facilitation, and training in the logical framework approach and project cycle management, including problem and situation analysis, stakeholder analyses, risk analysis, visioning, design of objectives and Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks.
A core aspect of CIDT’s work involves capacity building and support for organisations and institutions in Project and Programme Cycle Management, Logical Framework Approach and Results Based Management.
CIDT also has strong experience in supporting and facilitating government and institutional planning processes, with key background knowledge of the 'development landscape', aid approaches and instruments, Budget Support and Sector Wide Approaches, economic development and poverty reduction strategies.
Core CIDT business includes review, evaluation and impact assessment of national projects and programmes.
Environment, Livelihoods and Forests
CIDT has many years experience in providing consultancy support in the fields of forest and agriculture management, rural development and sustainable livelihoods.
This work includes policy level support related to achieving environmental MDGs, combating climate change and reducing carbon emissions , as well as community based natural resource management and training of trainer approacheas to capacity building.
From 2006-2008 we hosted the prestigious Chevening Fellowship in governance and environmental democracy and from 2010 we will run a course on improving forest goverance; a key precondition to REDD.
A current priority is to help improve tripartite stakeholder engagement, planning and implementation of natural resource management between private sector organisations, environemntal civil society NGOS and government ministries.
Education Sector
CIDT specialises in education sector development, public sector reform, education and school management, school development planning, teaching and learning methodologies, inspection, curriculum development and assessment.
They specialise in gender and education, community involvement, HIV/AIDs and action research.
They provide project management and long-term consultancy support to a range of education programmes and projects and have conducted national and international level education reviews.
Social Inclusion and Sustainable Communities
CIDT offers international consultancy and training in social appraisal, social inclusion, gender analysis, policy and strategy formulation; facilitating community participation and community development; participatory approaches and sustainable livelihoods; support for decentralised development; and conflict management.
