The CESGRANRIO FOUNDATION, in its fortieth year, continues to be in tune with modernity and to search unceasingly for new paths in the challenging process of educating and educating new generations.
In its actions, it has aimed not only at the educational universe, but also at the society as a whole.
The FOUNDATION Cesgranrio was born a pioneering association of 12 universities, which made possible the creation of the Candidate Selection Center for Higher Education of the Great River, on October 12, 1971 . The Center was established by an agreement signed with the Ministry of Education and Culture. At the time, Minister was Mr. Jarbas Passarinho and Director of the Department of University Affairs of MEC, Professor Newton Lins Buarque Sucupira.
With Carlos Alberto Serpa de Oliveira at the forefront , a group of educators dared to innovate in the field of selection to university education and implemented, as a pilot project, the first unified vestibular of Greater Rio.
The great success achieved in the 1972 college entrance examination and the 1973 examination led the Universities signatories to the Cesgranrio Agreement to petition the Ministry of Education to create an autonomous private foundation instituted by them that would be permanently dedicated to the organization access to higher education and related educational activities.
