The CCM - Medical Collaboration Committee is a non-governmental organization founded in 1968 by a group of Turin doctors convinced that health and access to basic care should be guaranteed rights even to the most vulnerable people in the poorest countries. To date, doctors and experts of the CCM are present in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda.
In Africa the CCM:
ensures health care during pregnancy, childbirth and childhood;
strengthens existing hospitals, health centers and dispensaries, providing equipment and medicines;
guarantees access to treatment by strengthening the network of health services even in the villages furthest from hospitals;
train local staff : doctors, nurses, midwives and health workers;
meets local communities and promotes simple prevention tools , such as the mosquito net.
In Italy, the CCM favors access to the health services of migrants and refugees. Realize campaigns s ensibilizzazione addressed to the public and to schools. It promotes courses of training for doctors and nurses.
