Departamento Nacional de Planeación (DNP) is an Administrative Department that belongs to the Executive Branch of the public power and is directly dependent on the Presidency of the Republic.

The administrative departments are technical entities in charge of directing, coordinating a service and granting the Government adequate information for decision making. They have the same status as ministries but have no legislative initiative.

The DNP is an eminently technical entity that promotes the implementation of a strategic vision of the country in the social, economic and environmental fields, through the design, orientation and evaluation of Colombian public policies, the management and allocation of public investment and the concretion of the same in plans, programs and projects of the Government.
