About

History of DEDE

The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency,formerly named as "National Energy Authority”, was established under the National Energy Authority Act, announced in the Royal Gazette Volume 70, Part 3, dated 6th January B.E. 2496 (1953). By the virtue of this Act, the "National Energy Authority Committee" was set up to formulate policies and identify related energy projects, and the "National Energy Authority” was founded in an equal status of “Department” since 7th January B.E. 2496 (1953).

Vision

To become a leader in alternative energy development and energy efficiency in Asia by 2036.

Mission Statement

To create sustainability of alternative energy and energy efficiency of the country, in order to boost efficiency and environmentally friendly of energy production and consumption. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties prescribed under the Act on Administrative Organisation of the State Affairs are: to be responsible for energy efficiency promotion, energy conservation regulation, energy sources provision, alternative development of integrated energy uses, energy technology dissemination in systematic and continuous proceeding to adequately respond the demand from every sector at optimal costs beneficial to the country development and the people better living standard.

The duties prescribed under The Energy Conservation Promotion Act B.E.2535 are: to be responsible for regulation, supervision, promotion and assistance provision to the designated factories and buildings to comply with laws and regulations for efficient use of energy and savings.
