The Electronic Communications and Post Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) is responsible for the regulation of activities carried out on the territory of Niger in the postal and electronic communications sectors. The establishment of ARCEP follows the economic reforms initiated in Niger in the 1980s which resulted in a dissociation between the function of defining sectoral policies and regulations falling under the sector ministries and the regulatory function assigned to ARCEP. . ARCEP's activities are centralized around the monitoring and control of the obligations of the parties, tariffs, quality of services, support for the development of regulated sectors, arbitration of disputes, etc.
