Etnia is a non-profit organization active in the fields of culture, development and cooperation. It bases its activity on the conviction that culture is both a vehicle and an essential component of the development of local and regional communities and, on the other hand, a powerful tool for strengthening North-South dialogue, mutual acceptance of specificities and differences in contemporary societies.
The activities of ETNIA include, in particular, the production and edition of cultural diffusion materials, the organization of diversified cultural events (festivals, seminars, shows, exhibitions, workshops, etc.), the promotion of programs of animation, cooperation and multicultural education, preparation of projects and advice in the socio-cultural area. The associative movement, the community of creators and cultural agents, the local authorities and other entities of the social economy are the preferred recipients of its action.
In recent years they have strengthened their partnerships in the Portuguese-speaking world and in this sense they are developing cooperation actions with Portuguese-speaking countries, especially with Brazil and more recently with Cape Verde.
In their range of projects, there are itinerant artistic and multidisciplinary festivals, exhibitions of the visual arts, artistic workshops, etc. Their projects have members of various artistic spheres (music, dance, painting, sculpture, photography, theater, etc) and are a tool for the promotion and dissemination of traditional and contemporary cultural expressions and for development.
