Created in 1974, the EEB is now the largest federation of environmental citizens’ organisations in Europe. It currently consists of over 150 member organisations in more than 30 countries (virtually all EU Member States plus some accession and neighbouring countries), including a growing number of European networks, and representing some 15 million individual members and supporters.
They work on a vast array of environmental issues and they policy officers use experts, scientists, their members, and politicians to work towards developing and protecting environmental policies. Take a look at their Activities section which explains what they work on and what they do, and their EEB Work Programme 2017 for much more detail on their activities this year.
Their office in Brussels closely coordinates EU-oriented activities with EEB Members at national level around Europe. They also work in coalitions, such as the Green 10 and Spring Alliance,or at a global level through the Global Policies and Sustainability Unit as well as in ad-hoc coalitions with representatives of other interest groups when appropriate.
They represent more than 150 member organisations from +30 countries with a membership base of more than 15 million individuals/households.
These non-governmental organisations deal with environmental issues and nature protection and help form the basis of the EEB - giving it direction, credibility and outreach across the European Union and beyond.
