HISTORY

In 1997, the Fundación Oficina de Investigaciones Sociales y de Desarrollo (OFIS), established an office in Manabí with the purpose of accompanying development processes together with the organizations of the Montubio people and mangrove peoples in the province of Manabí.

In the eleven years of OFIS MANABI's work, it was a decentralized office with both financial and technical autonomy, which allowed it to build a programmatic and political identity, which was framed within the institutional guidelines and which was the basis on which the organization was consolidated. strategic alliance with OFIS at the national level.

After this time of accompaniment and sharing the development challenges, the OFIS headquarters in agreement with the Manabí Office considered it appropriate and pertinent to proceed with a complete autonomy of OFIS Manabí, proceeding to the creation of the Foundation for Research and Social Development (FIDES) that was created with Ministerial Agreement 0030 granted by the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion - MIES on March 9, 2009.

Vision

They are an organization committed to vulnerable groups in Ecuadorian society, which contributes to guaranteeing the full enjoyment of their rights and moving towards the construction of a more equitable, just, participatory, democratic and inclusive society.

Mission

The Foundation for Research and Social Development (FIDES) is a private non-profit organization that works together with local communities and indigenous peoples, especially with women and youth, promoting human and nature rights, equity, resilience (environmental, economic and social), participation, democracy and effective governance. Alliances are promoted with groups and actors, both public and private; national and international who share the vision and values.
