GMA Kapuso Foundation
About

The GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), continues to uphold the Network's long tradition of service to the marginalized – a commitment that serves as the moving spirit behind GMA Network. Through the GMAKF, the Network spreads the gospel of sharing and caring and manifests what being a Kapuso means. And though usually identified as the CSR arm of GMA Network, it is an independent, PCNC-certified, non-stock, non-profit, media-based organization. As such, apart from the Network which is its biggest donor, it also relies on partnerships and donations from individuals, groups and corporations in order to operate, those who share in its belief to uplift the lives of the underprivileged Filipinos, especially in the most remote, far-flung and even high-risk security areas of the country.

The GMAKF is not a one-man show -- the general public can get involved through the Foundation's volunteering projects. It not only helps but also links up and gets the community engaged. It is quick to respond and answers problems with long-term solutions.

This is the essence of being a Kapuso. It is looking out for one another and helping each other especially in times of need. It is educating the youth and making sure that the students don't miss class simply because they don't have basic school supplies. It is providing nutritious food to those who need nourishment but can't afford it. It is giving the gift of health. It is giving the gift of time.

With the Kapuso equity, the Foundation's role in extending help to less fortunate Filipinos became more concrete. In 2003, the late former President Corazon Aquino cited the Foundation as one of the top 20 model organizations in the country. Mrs. Aquino personally invited the Foundation to join the People Power Movement whose goal is for the betterment of the lives of the Filipinos.

In 2009, through the projects of the Foundation, over 800,000 Filipinos were reached and given assistance. The number concretely signifies the commitment of the Foundation to help Filipinos in need one at a time, changing one life at a time; hoping that each and every life it touches becomes the catalyst of change for a better community and a better country.

The Foundation has genuinely created and sustained a culture of philanthropy and social commitment among its officers, employees, talents and the communities to which it reaches out.

MISSION

We uplift the life of the underprivileged Kapusong-Filipino all over the Philippines by:

-Providing quick-response relief operations to fulfill their most immediate needs in times of crisis.

-Undertaking health, nutrition and medical projects to promote greater equity in health.

-Carrying out developmental programs designed to promote education and foster learning.

We value our relationships with our local, national and international partners, and recognize the impact that they have on our capability to provide help to those who need it most.

We are committed in ensuring sustainable operations to enable us to continue being a “strong bridge” for our donors and beneficiaries by actively promoting the Foundation’s initiatives to solicit sufficient funding.

In so doing, we effectively bridge the distances that come between those that need help and those extending a helping hand. As such, we recognize the power of media and its role in eliciting a sense of compassion from our donors, and promoting volunteerism among Filipinos, and we shall continue to use it responsibly as a means to achieve our organizational goals.

PROGRAMS

Health

The Kapuso Foundation believes in the importance of Health in Developing a productive Citizenry. The improvement of the quality of life begins with it. By cultivating ties with medical institutions and various partners, the Foundation was able to provide medicines and medical services that answer the specific needs of its beneficiaries.

Disaster Relief

The GMAKF's disaster relief program is a wellspring of Consolation to victims of calamities and disasters. One of our mandates is to provide emergency relief in times of crises.

Education

GMA Kapuso Foundation's Education Programs are wellspring of Empowerment. GMAKF believes that "Education is the best weapon against poverty." Through these projects, we help less fortunate children and students pursue their education.

Values Formation

Through programs under its Values Formation project, the Foundation awakens the spirit of Bayanihan in the Filipinos by inspiring them to give their time and to volunteer in GMAKF activities. In this regard, the Foundation becomes a source of joy for people willing to share their time and resources to alleviate the plight of those in need.
