HIT is a non-profit corporate consortium that promotes the research results and innovation of the Trentino system in order to foster local business innovation and development. HIT acts as a catalyst of innovation, focusing on technology transfer and scouting of innovation opportunities for shareholders and, indirectly, for the territory of the Autonomous Province of Trento at national, European and international level, in the areas of the smart specialization strategy identified by the Autonomous Province of Trento.

To this end, in particular:

a) HIT coordinates the participation of shareholders, possibly together with other companies and institutions, to European policy initiatives, national and provincial in research, innovation, education and technology transfer, including national technology clusters and the European Innovation Partnerships. HIT is directly involved in the participation to the Knowledge and Innovation Communities promoted by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), and indirectly supports the shareholders’ participation to the EIT KICs, through the coordination and/or the implementation of related activities;

b) HIT encourages and assists the establishment of research and innovation joint laboratories between the shareholders, possibly together with other companies and entities;

c) HIT stimulates integrated offerings of infrastructures, expertise and services of the shareholders to the acceleration of innovative enterprises;

d) HIT carries out centralized service functions in favor of the shareholders and, when appropriate, of other entities operating within the territory of the Autonomous Province of Trento, in areas and activities consistent with its social purpose, for the design, preparation and the management of joint innovation projects.
