Hugo House

About

Hugo House is a place where you can read words, hear words, and make words better. Hugo House is a place for writers, with a concentrated focus on helping anyone who wants to write. They offer readings, classes, book launches, workshops, teen programs, consultations with professional writers, and much more. The namesake, Richard Hugo, came from poverty and a broken family in White Center, but transcended his upbringing to become a nationally renowned poet. As Hugo wrote, “Writing is a way of saying that you and the world have a chance.” Everyone wants to make their mark—to find and leave a record of who they are. Hugo House is a place where you can write.
