The Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) is a landmark grant-making fund to support organisations working in countries and regions facing humanitarian challenges, such as Haiti, Pakistan and East Africa, to develop, test and share new technologies, products and processes that will make humanitarian aid more effective and cost-efficient in the future.

The Humanitarian Innovation Fund is one of Elrha's Programmes. Elrha is an initiative that aims to improve humanitarian outcomes through partnership, research and innovstion.

The HIF’s Vision: A humanitarian system that is capable of innovating and adapting to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

The HIF’s Purpose: The Humanitarian Innovation Fund supports organisations and individuals to identify, nurture and share innovative and scalable solutions to the challenges facing effective humanitarian assistance.

In order to achieve this, the Humanitarian Innovation Fund will work towards:

• Enabling and supporting humanitarian innovators to move creative ideas through the innovation process
• Supporting them in building new partnerships with key actors
• Enabling the lessons from grant funded projects and from analysis of innovation processes in humanitarian contexts to be disseminated more widely
• Strengthening existing relationships between humanitarian agencies, academics and those in the private sector engaged in innovation processes
