About

Iles de Paix is a Belgian development NGO founded in 1962. The association is pluralistic. It acts without religious, philosophical, ideological or political ties.

VISION

Iles de Paix aspires to a world where everyone can live with dignity and develop their potential; a world of solidarity that promotes the access of all to human rights in a preserved environment.

MISSIONS

Iles de Paix has a general mission to contribute to the research and experimentation of alternative models of development.

The choice of models to promote is based on values:

  • centering on the human person;
  • harmonious balance and respect for the individual with others (his family, his community, the human race) and with nature;
  • quality of life for all.

These models will also have to respect conditions, among which we can mention:

  • that they must be environmentally friendly, reduce poverty and / or inequality;
  • increasing the resilience of populations, promoting access to fundamental rights, and so on. ;
  • that they must be extensible and reproducible;
  • they must be anchored where the impact is real and measurable.

To be realistic and concrete, the Islands of Peace will focus on a specific mission that is both broad and relatively circumscribed: the promotion of sustainable food systems. This choice is justified in view of the important issues that it encompasses at the local level (particularly for rural families in the South that the Islands of Peace supports) and at the global level (food security and resilience to climate change).
