The Independent Institute for Social Policy (IISP) has grown out the Social Policy: Challenges of the XXI Century program. The Program is supported by the Ford Foundation and makes grants for research in social policy.
In December 2000, the IISP was registered as an autonomous non-for-profit organization.
The main mission of the IISP is to support and develop ideas and initiatives that have a social effect and suggest new approaches to social policy.
IISP Objectives
Academic research in social policy and support of independent research in this area
Creation of an extensive information base on the problems of social policy analysis
Organization of a free debate on most burning problems of the modern social development and social policy in Russia and abroad.
Key IISP Activities
Grant support for independemt sociological and economic research in social policy issues
Conducting research in social policy issues and partcipation in international projects
Independent expertise and evaluation of social effects of decisions by the authorities, as well as by commercial and non-for-profit organizations
Consultancy in social policy issues
Creation and development of information pools and databases (databases of researchers and research organizations working in the area of social policy in Russia; information support; and data archiving)
Informing a debate on most important social policy issues: organization and holding of seminars, conferences, round-table discussions, and other events
Development and implementation of educational programs aimed at the improvement and introduction of new knowledge in social policy
Publication of journals, and academic, educational, reference, and information literature in social policy.
