About
Since its inception in 1979, the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) has built a reputation of an independent think tank and an empirical research center. Through a distinguished body of work, it has proven its commitment to research and advocacy of a more holistic approach to sustainable development.
In the new century, IIDS seeks to build on its storied legacy of 40 years to reorient and consolidate policy priorities across Nepal and South Asia. Its vision is to foster greater development effectiveness through policy research, advocacy, and incubation of innovation. It aims to be recognized as one of the region’s leading institutes that contributes to evidence-based policymaking, trains professionals, and broadens public understanding of sustainable development challenges in the 21st century across South Asia.
The Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) is a successor to the Integrated Development Systems (IDS) established in 1979. Over the years, IIDS has successfully conducted more than 300 studies and surveys covering macro-economics, foreign aid, agriculture and rural development, food and nutrition, population and health, education, trade and energy, regional co-operation, women in development, poverty alleviation, conflict resolution and sustainable peace.
