About

Founded in 2010, the Instituto para las Mujeres en la Migracion (Institute for Women in Migration, or IMUMI) is a Mexican organization specializing in improving the situation of migrant women and children. IMUMI conducts research and advocacy and offers legal representation to migrant women, children, and families.

Mission

The Institute for Women in Migration, AC (IMUMI) is a civil society organization that promotes the rights of women in migration within the Mexican context, whether they live in communities of origin, are in transit or reside in Mexico or the United States.

Vision

Migrant women have the right to develop their lives, labor, emotional and social, in places that promote well-being and security for themselves and their families. IMUMI's work starts from a human rights-based perspective with the vision that women must have the resources and information necessary to access their rights and to take advantage of the positive aspects of migration.

Objectives

• Promote safe migration for women through access to justice.

• Promote the development and implementation of public policies and programs that benefit women in migration.

• Educate and sensitize the political class, academia, university students and the media about
the rights and needs of women related to migration.

• Contribute to the strengthening of women's capacities so that they can exercise those rights that have been affected by migratory processes.
