About the Institute

The Institute of Applied Linguistics educates high-class specialists in the fields of translation, linguistics, foreign language teaching and intercultural mediation.

The Institute of Applied Linguistics is the oldest and one of the best scientific and didactic units in Poland dealing with research in the field of broadly understood applied linguistics, including research on translation as well as the acquisition and teaching of foreign languages. We are also interested in linguistic and literary studies. The high rank of the Institute is demonstrated by the participation of employees in scientific life in Poland and abroad, as well as publications of nationwide and international coverage. We belong to such prestigious global consortia assembling the best academic units in translation such as: EMCI , EMT and CIUTI.

At first and second cycle studies we educate translators, intercultural mediators and foreign language teachers, and our graduates have been valued employees of EU institutions and other European and national units for years, as well as foreign language teachers at home and abroad.
