The Interdisciplinary Center for Development Studies (Cider in Spanish) was founded in the Universidad de los Andes in 1976, with the technical and financial support from the Institute of Social Studies (The Netherlands), with the purpose of contributing to the understanding and resolution of problems related to development from an inter-disciplinary point of view.
The Center’s activities take place around three strategic axes: offering postgraduate-level training for professionals working in development, undertaking research projects, and contributing to university outreach projects (such as consulting, continuing education and dissemination events).
