The Islamic Republic of Iran Medical Council is a Non Governmental Organization(NGO) which is responsible for licensing, authorization, and registration of the all health care professionals (except nurses who are registered by Iran Nursing Organization.) to practice in Iran.
IRIMC strives to achieve the following goals:
All Iranian health care professionals are registered and licensed by IRIMC.
IRIMC represents 298,481 members including general practitioners, specialist and sub-specialists in medicine, general dentists, specialists in dentistry, pharmacists, clinical laboratory doctors, midwives, and other licensed health care workers (such as physical therapists, optometrists,)
200 regional branches have been established nationwide through independent and simultaneous election procedure. Each regional branch consists of a board of directors with regional president, vice president, treasurer and secretary whom operate under the supervision of IRIMC president and the supreme council. 2860 health care professionals serve as the boards of directors of all IRIMC regional offices in Iran.
