The Jamaica Red Cross is part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. This is the word’s largest humanitarian organization, with 190 National Societies. They are guided by their seven fundamental principles; humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, universality and unity.
Their work is always done with the purpose of helping those most vulnerable in any situation, whether it is a national disaster; a conflict situation; or helping the needy in their society.
The Jamaica Red Cross is a member of The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement which is dedicated to serving the needs of the most vulnerable. The organization was established by an Act of the Parliament in 1964, to serve as an Auxiliary to the Government in the times of emergencies, disasters or crises.
