The Japanese Cultural Institute Cologne is active as a Germany-representation of The Japan Foundation in the German-speaking. In His primary focus is the arts and cultural sectors, voice switches, Japan research and intellectual exchanges and the Japan-related information transfer. In addition, the Institute provides assistance to cultural projects with Japan regarding other organizers. The primary goal is to introduce the Japanese culture in the widest possible range, to increase knowledge about Japan and merely to enhance the friendship between the countries. In order to accomplish this task, the Institute offers a diverse cultural program.These include art exhibitions, theater and dance performances, concerts, film screenings, literary readings and symposia and lectures on topics from different areas of Japanese culture. The language department of the institute offers interested parties the opportunity to learn Japanese at various levels and conveyed in special culture courses Japanese language skills by participating in typical activities. The Institute also organized in collaboration with partners in Germany to twice annually conducted Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
