About

Karama Relief and Development Organization (KARDO) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which is an initiative launched by a group of Somali intellectuals and active members of civil society organizations in October 2006 to promote the humanitarian Relief efforts and help the needy people in war torn regions of the country following the civil war disaster that had ravaged the country since 1991.

 

Coverage Area

The Organization operates and covers Benadir, Middle and Lower Shabelle, Hiran and Galgadud regions of Somalia. It works very closely with the target communities in its coverage areas in a participatory approach. KARDO always considers credibility, transparency and accountability with the stakeholders.

 

Target Group  

KARDO’s operations are designed to meet the needs of the affected people of all categories, the marginalized and the oppressed. KARDO supports initiatives from beneficiaries to promote their lives. The Organization’s target groups include:

  • Women and Children
  • The poor Families
  • Communities affected by disasters (Natural and man-made)
  • Youth and the vulnerable people
  • The Displaced people
  • Communities with special needs
