About

Koalisi Seni Indonesia (Indonesian Art Coalition) was established as a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the sustainable development and support of the arts in Indonesia. This organization was formed on the basis of the need of various art and culture communities for an umbrella organization. For that reason, Kelola Foundation (Yayasan Kelola), with the support of Hivos, held an initial meeting in Bogor, West Java, on April 5-6, 2010. This meeting was attended by 21 individuals and groups who agreed to continue the effort to form the desired umbrella organization. The second meeting toward this goal, which took place in Yogyakarta from May 4-5, 2010, resulted in the formulation of a more concrete work program for the development of the planned organization. This work plan involved the matters of resources and resource management, the motivation and development of public policies on art and culture, and the distribution of information on this subject.
