The history of the LMBV begins with the privatization process of the former lignite coal companies and joint stock companies in the East German coal mining areas.
The LMBV was created with entry in the commercial register, ie on 09.08.1994 .
The merger of MBV and LBV into LMBV took place on the basis of the balance sheet drawn up on 31.08.1995 and expressly " with economic effect as of 31st August 1995, 24.00 o'clock / 01. September 1995, 00:00 o'clock " (quotation from the respective § 1 Abs 3 of the merger agreements LMBV / LBV and LMBV / MBV).
Previously, the Lusatian Mining Management Company (LBV) and the Mitteldeutsche Bergbau-Verwaltungsgesellschaft (MBV) performed the tasks of rehabilitation and rehabilitation in the districts. Since January 1, 1995, the Lusatian and Central German mining management mbH (LMBV) as a holding company in Berlin (there until 2006) took over the targeted termination of non-privatizable expiring lignite mining, the management of mining past loads in Lusatia and central Germany and the recovery of renovated properties.
The LMBV is a public-sector company that is currently owned by the Confederation (Gesellschafter BMGB für Treuhandanstalt and later the BMF). On 22 December 1995 MBV and LBV merged with the holding company LMBV; the former territorial structures were replaced by a country-based organization of the company. At the end of 1999, the last production facilities were decommissioned according to plan. Since the merger of BMGB and LMBV in 2000, the Federal Republic of Germany has been the sole shareholder of LMBV. The Federal Ministry of Finance assumes the role of the partner.
At the beginning of this century, redevelopment mining and subsequent recovery became the focus of the company's activities. The aim is to create conditions for the comprehensive restructuring and recovery of the former brown coal regions.
Since 01.01.2007 the company is located in Senftenberg, Oberspreewald-Lausitz
