The main goal of the company is the rapid and economical rehabilitation of the open-cast opencast mining and finishing plants as a crucial prerequisite for the subsequent use of these sites for the settlement of industry and trade, for agriculture and forestry, nature conservation as well as for tourism.
Re-use of the former operating areas takes place according to the obligations laid down in the Federal Mining Act. The LMBV, as a mining company and project owner, is responsible in particular for the realization of the sanitation targets defined in the regional planning of the countries, the production of public safety and the preparation of the planned after-effects. Thus, the LMBV makes a significant contribution to the future development of the Lusatian and Middle-German Braunkohlereviers.
