Madhesh Human Rights Home (MAHURI HOME) was officially founded in 2008 to defend, safeguard, monitor, protect, and promote human rights, social cohesion, and peace in and around Kapilvastu district. This organization is an outcome of the collective and collaborative initiation of a dynamic team comprising of experts in the areas of human rights, media, Dalit and women empowerment, non-violent conflict transformation, and peace education in the backdrop of the violent outbreak in Kapilvastu due to assassination of Mohid Khan in 2007. The organization, based in Kapilvastu district with headquarter in Taulihawa. MAHURI HOME was established with the commitment to empower the underprivileged, socially excluded and oppressed, indigenous and minority population at the grassroots level.
MAHURI HOME has been working to enhance representation and participation of local communities, women, Dalit, and disadvantaged sections of the population in government and decision-making processes. One of its core areas of work is democratization and governance of public institution. As part of a larger program and strategy of MAHURI HOME is “Equitable Representation and leadership for Prosperous Society”, MAHURI HOME has initiated various initiatives for protection and promotion of human rights through advocating agendas of women, Dalit, and disadvantage community since the early days of establishment in the Terai areas of Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang and Banke.

Mission:
A society where citizens exercise human rights provided by national and international human rights instruments without fear and favor, Sensitize State and Non-State service providers, enable local people, women and girls, Capacitate them and access them to the information.
