Majal was launched in 2006 as Mideast Youth. It began as a community-run portal to discuss pressing issues in the Middle East and North Africa. As its influence grew, they began developing new tools that helped them communicate a range of underrepresented causes to wider audiences. Today, they continue striving for new and innovative ways to make marginalized voices heard.
Every project they undertake connects back to their core beliefs.
With courage and innovation, Majal addresses issues that receive little or no attention: From the rights of the invisible lower-income migrant workers to the stigmatized Middle East LGBTQ community to those seeking to express dissent through music.
