THE MEDICAL ACTION GROUP, INC. (MAG)

At the height of the Marcos Dictatorship, a group of doctors under the aegis of Dr. Mita Pardo de Tavera was brought together to provide medical aid to victims of political repression and their families. They also assisted FLAG lawyers led by Sen. Jose W. Diokno to document evidences of torture among political prisoners. Founded in November 1982, the Medical Action Group was born to deliver health services to victims of human rights violations, promote justice in health and uphold human rights.

The Medical Action Group was founded by Senator Jose W. Diokno, Justice Jose B.L. Reyes, Sylvia Guerrero, Dr. Alicia de la Paz, Dr. Erlinda Senturias, Dr. Luis Mabilangan, Dr. Mita Pardo de Tavera, Dr. Jaime Zamuco, Dr. Willy Lopez, Dr. Porfirio Recio, and Dr. Benjamin Aquino Sr.
