Meggitt Avionics located in Fareham between Southampton and Portsmouth on the UK's south coast, designs and manufactures flight deck avionics, data acquisition systems, instrumentation and life support equipment.
Renowned as leading developers of scientific instruments, Negretti & Zambra produced the barometers, cameras, binoculars, thermometers and meteorological instruments still sought after today.
Since the early 1960s they have produced altimeters, airspeed indicators, airspeed accelerometers and indicators using traditional electro-mechanical technology. This experience has enabled us to direct considerable engineering invention and resource into the developement of the current avionics range.
Innovative products such as the secondary flight display have received wide acclaim within the industry and have made a significant contribution to the evolution of the modern cockpit. The current ranges harness advanced digital processing and display techniques, supported by proven qualifications as a leading supplier of solid-state instrumentation.
They are part of Meggitt PLC's Equipment Group division, eight technologically diverse businesses marketing their offerings to specialist customers, while benefiting from the wider Meggitt group’s investment in shared services and common processes.
Meggitt Avionics’ roots go back to 1852, when they were originally known as Negretti and Zambra. The company
founders pioneered research into the relationship between barometric pressure and height above sea level
using hot air balloons.
Today they’re known for intelligent air data systems and the compact flight deck instruments that enable pilots to
assimilate critical information in extreme environments.
