MCC is a global, nonprofit organization that strives to share God’s love and compassion for all through relief, development and peace. Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, shares God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice. MCC envisions communities worldwide in right relationship with God, one another and creation.
In all their programs they are committed to relationships with their local partners and churches.
As an Anabaptist organization, they strive to make peace a part of everything they do. When responding to disasters they work with local groups to distribute resources in ways that minimize conflict. In their development work they plan with community and church groups to make sure the projects meet their needs. And they advocate for policies that will lead to a more peaceful world.
As they celebrate the centennial of their ministry in 2020, they reaffirm their Christ-led commitment to compassionately serve and learn from vulnerable people around the world. They continue to answer God’s call, focusing their work in five strategic areas of service.
In every country where MCC works, they partner with local churches and organizations with similar values. Together they work in three areas:
Relief: Meeting people’s immediate needs for survival during times of crisis, such as a hurricane or war. They also focus on helping communities prepare for and respond to disasters.
Development: Strengthening people’s long-term access to food and water, health care and education. Their programs also help people find ways to support their families.
Peace: Teaching conflict transformation skills, supporting peace education, advocating for justice and encouraging people to work together despite their differences.
