The Ministry of the Environment, in accordance with the stipulations of the Ecuadorian people in the Political Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador of 2008, will ensure a healthy environment, respect for the rights of nature or pacha mama. It will guarantee a sustainable model of environmentally balanced development that respects cultural diversity, conserves biodiversity and the natural regeneration capacity of ecosystems, and ensures the satisfaction of the needs of present and future generations.

Values

It is the Ecuadorian State agency responsible for designing environmental policies and coordinating strategies, projects and programs for the care of ecosystems and the sustainable use of natural resources. It proposes and defines the rules to achieve adequate environmental quality, with a development based on the conservation and appropriate use of biodiversity and the resources available to our country.

From a solidary vision with the populations and their Environment, encourages the participation of all social actors in environmental management through coordinated work, in order to contribute to consolidate the capacity of both the State and the sectional governments for the management democratic and decentralized environmental issue and engage the participation of various actors: universities, research centers, and NGOs.

Environmental management is everyone's responsibility, because the quality of life depends on the environmental conditions in which we develop. For this reason, the Ministry is responsible for collecting information of an environmental nature as an instrument to educate the population about natural resources and biodiversity that the country possesses, and the most appropriate way to preserve and utilize these riches in a timely manner.
